First off, last week was my 1 year blogging anniversary, and WordPress sent me this lovely message.
Happy Anniversary!

You registered on WordPress.com 1 years ago!

Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging!

So now on to the Birthday Dinner.

I took my husband out to Celebrate his 47th Birthday last week! I still cannot believe that we are adults, let alone middle-aged. We started dating when I was 23 and he was 26. We dated for 2 years and then we were engaged for 1 year, and married going on 18 years. So here we are now 21 years later and we both still feel as young as we were when we met, but clearly were not. I mean how did this happen, were a middle-aged couple.  We laugh and laugh about that. Well anyway, here’s our celebration dinner. He still makes my heart go Pitter Patter.

034

So as a middle-aged couple we ordered a libation to get the Birthday Celebration going. Cranberry Cosmo for me and a Two Hearted Ale for Birthday Boy Jeff.

033

We love this beer, plus its Brewed in Michigan!

We started with the Calamari. This dish is so good its;

    • Steak cut strips flash fried & finished with a

Lemon Caper Beurre Blanc sauce.

035

Jeff ordered the Pile of Perch.

036

I had the White Fish with Shrimp.

037

We both loved our meals, but we didn’t stop there we then each ordered dessert. I ordered the Sanders Hot Fudge and Ice Cream Creme Puff .

039

Jeff ordered the Caramel Pecan Bread Pudding. Delicious meal with a perfect ending for the Best man I know. My Jeffrey.

038

Love a birthday dinner! On his actual birthday, I surprised him with a Chocolate Bumpy Cake with White Chocolate Shavings…My word that cake was good.

001

These next pictures have nothing to do with Jeff’s Birthday Dinner, it just made me laugh. Here’s my Ginger Girl on her 1st. car trip. She’s a very cautious driver. She ALWAYS looks both ways. Here she is Checking to her Left.  - Then -

017

Checking to the Right.

Special Deliveries…Love them, Good eats…Love them. Especially if they are a special delivery with good eats in them! Also love having a good time. Here are a few of all the above.

I recently subscribed to a Vegan Monthly Delivery Box called Conscious Box. Here’s their Mission.

The Mission of Conscious Box

Conscious Box is dedicated to introducing you to the most ethical, sustainable, and honest businesses that create the purest products available. We scour the marketplace to find those that stand above the rest. Discovery defines the Conscious Box experience.

I was so excited when the box arrived I could not wait to share it with you. Look at all these goodies…While I am not Vegan, or even vegetarian, I am currently working on how I live my life and choices I make. I realize that you have to start somewhere.

This box was loaded with great items. Teas, coffee, chocolate, snacks, and hb&a items. It was nicely packaged and the quality and quantity was amazing.

Sharing time… I made a really great crab sandwich the other day. Delicious.

Seriously, it was delicious. I added a side of roasted broccoli, but this sandwich could have stood alone on the plate.

One of my favorite lunches lately has been a ham and egg salad. I have been finding fresh spinach and sprouts at the farmers market along with some cucumbers and avocados and just mixing it all together and enjoying.

Recently I won a giveaway on Erin Berries Blog for Rebootizer. I have started it and cannot wait to do a quick review on it once I have completed the detox plan.

My amazing friends at Chobani sent me a 6 pack of their 16 ounce blended flavors. Okay here’s where the gushing comes in. I love this company, they are amazing friends to us bloggers, and on top of that their products are GREAT. I absolutely am in love with the Vanilla Chocolate Chunk.

I did share approximately 2 teaspoons with my husband, I felt like in order to do an honest review I had to eat the rest! Then I started in on the Mango. I really love the blended flavors. I have always been a huge fan of Chobani’s fruit on the bottom Pineapple flavor, but now feel like I should alternate my Chobani love to the blended yogurt as well. I am planning a few post with some of the ways I enjoyed the Chobani yogurt other than straight out of the container. What can I say, I  sometimes can’t help myself. Once it hits your lipsit’s so good! (Old School Movie Reference). Sorry.

I have been on a roll with blog giveaways lately and hit it BIG with the next two prizes. First up I won a $50.00 gift card to Lululemon. One of my favorite bloggers Calee from Life + Running was hosting this giveaway, and I could not have been happier when she notified my that I had won. I am so looking forward to spending that gift card. When Lululemon sent me the gift card they also sent me a reusable bag that I think I will use as my lunch bag and a change purse. Loving them lots right now.

My next big prize was from Rachael at Passing Daisies. I have been reading Rachael’s blog for a long time and love her dedication to honest blogging.  She really has well written posts with some great recipes. So back to the prize, I won these Zaggora HotPants. I was really pumped about these HotPants and put them to the test and loved them. Here’s some information on them taken directly from their webpage.

HotPants increase energy expenditure during exercise by 6% versus the control garment. HotPants increase energy expenditure in the hour after exercise by 26%*.

In 30 minutes of exercise, weight loss is around 4x greater in HotPants than in a standard garment. On average, subjects lost 1.13% of body mass in HotPants compared to 0.27% in the control garment.

HotPants increase the core body temperature by an average of 18% more than the control garment, which leads to an increase in metabolism.

I ordered the Orange, because it’s so HOT right now. Nah, I just love Orange. How cute are they? I can tell you this from just wearing them once, I sure did sweat more doing the same workout I normally do. So I will have to keep you posted on them. They have a Take the Challenge for new users of the HotPants. So me loving a challenge is all in. What they expect is just this: Wear the pants a few times a week during exercise and share your results! Easy. Like I said I am all in. So I will share my experience here with you once I have completed said challenge. Orange HotPants are so hot right now! Just saying.

Now on to a few of the good times I was talking about earlier. Hit a Tigers game with my husband over the Labor Day week-end. Even though we lost and it was 86 degrees, we still had a great time. I love going Downtown Detroit, the city is always so much fun. We had a few beers, had some hot dogs and some frozen lemon aid. It was a fun afternoon ball game.

We also spent time with our friends having a few beers at a backyard birthday party. I do love beer. Another reason I am happy I won the Rebootizer, I could use a detox plan after indulging on so many festive foods and drinks this summer. It really has been the summer of fun.

I threw in this picture. I love this picture. It was taken on a houseboat trip I took in August. There was 30 people on this trip and all us girls got together and all piled on a floating island with our drinks and took tons of pictures, this picture happens to be my favorite. So much fun. Girl Power.

I included this picture because it’s pretty and I love water lilies.

Killian and Stuart say Hi! See my Orange stripped sweater with the Orange tissue tee, told ya I am loving Orange right now.

How cute are my fur babies? They look freaked out in this picture, but man I just love their little faces. They make my heart go Pitter Patter.

There’s just something about the weekend, I love the time I get to relax and make breakfast and just sit and talk with my husband. Unlike the typical breakfast during the week, where I eat at my desk at work. I was a bit undecided on what I wanted for breakfast, I thought I wanted Van’s French Toast Sticks while my husband wanted eggs. So I grabbed everything to make both and realized that I wanted eggs also. So back in the freezer went the French Toast Sticks.

It was a good call, I had 2 eggs scrambled with imitation crab meat and shredded cheese and just a splash of milk. My husband had 3 eggs with ham and shredded cheese and a splash of milk.

Multi-tasking is a must when you want to eat different ingredients and want to eat at the same time!

Now that I had my eggs, I can’t seem to get the French Toast Sticks off my mind. I just might need to think about having them as a snack later.

That’s how you Kick it Saturday Style. Eggs two ways or His and hers if you like.

Now that I am full and fueled I plan on getting to the planning of my day. Today is Cardio of choice with my Boot Camp Program, so I have a treadmill power walk planned.

BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

Tomorrow I get my first Rest Day from Boot Camp, I am very proud that I have followed the program and stayed on point. During the program we have in addition to the Workouts two goals that we give ourselves, I only had one day that I did not meet my goal.  I knew that the goal of getting myself to bed by 11 pm was going to be hard, but I really want to start forming better sleeping patterns.

Last night Jeff and I went to a Red Wings Game, our 3rd. this season! We had a blast, but I was so worried we would get home late and I would miss my Bedtime Goal, but I made it home and into bed by 10:56 pm.

And the Red Wings won 4-3! The last game we attended was in February where the Red Wings made sports history by winning 23 Home Games during a season, now that was a happy crowd.

It was a great game, I love watching live sporting events, the crowd always pumps me up. Plus I really love hockey, growing up my brothers played hockey and my father was a hockey coach, my mom volunteered at the concession stand, we were always at the Ice Arena as a family, we called ourselves  ”Rink Ratt’s.” My contribution was to organize cheering sections. I really took it serious, I made up dances, I had moves, those are some of my favorite memories from growing up.

Also I wanted to pass on that the Blend Retreat still has tickets available. It is open to bloggers and readers. This is the first annual BLEND Retreat and it is being held May 4th-6th in Boulder, Colorado at the historic Chautauqua Park.

I’m attending Blend Retreat 2012.

What do you think, wouldn’t you love to join us. The price is right and who doesn’t enjoy fellowship. I hope to see you there.

Question of the Day: What is your favorite part of the weekend?

And the Crowd Goes Wild. Well that’s what it feels like when you are part of the crowd at a Record making hockey game. Today my husband and I attended a Detroit Red Wings Hockey game.

These tickets were not easy to come by. The Detroit Red Wings have been selling out their home games since November 2011.

Today’s game was a record maker, we have won our 23rd. home game in a row. That is a league record  and it was so much fun being at the game to experience it.

I indulged in the typical sports arena food, I had a hot dog and an order of nachos, but my favorite treat was the 190 octane frozen drink I got from the margarita hut.

The Red Wings won the game 3 to 2. The crowd was so much fun, I love the spontaneous chants that start-up and the entire stadium joins in. Today’s attendance was 20,066, and this crowd knew how to make some noise.

Joe Louis arena was alive and full of celebration.

The City of Detroit is really an amazing city. I know it has had some bad press over the years, but the city I know and love has so much to offer.

So glad we were part of a history making game.

Question of the day: What’s you favorite professional sports team?

Having a food craving can really interrupt normal thought patterns, that’s how I have been with peanut butter lately. So for breakfast I made peanut butter topped waffles with hemp and chia seeds.  I also made a refreshing blueberry and banana protein smoothie. I love weekends.

I love to combine the two seeds. Super-food at its finest.

Added some Bee’s Knees Peanut Butter to Van’s natural waffles,

and Breakfast is served.

After I ate I started to think of some ideas for tomorrow.

My Superbowl Fiesta for Two. I love tailgate parties during regular football season. We have friends that tailgate Downtown Detroit every home game. I love the atmosphere in the City, the people are so much fun and there is food everywhere. We are big Detroit Lions fans, and we had a really great season this year. Detroit sports fans are really dedicated to The Motor City.

Even though our team is not in the Super Bowl, were really excited to watch the game, the commercials and the entertainment.

Today’s workout was 45 minute’s on the elliptical. I started to do a preset programmed workout on the machine, but I was not up to it. It proved to be too much for me, my legs could not keep up with the resistance changes. This was the first time I tried it, but it won’t be my last. Since I stopped that program I just went on doing my own workout, but with less resistance. It really got me thinking about strength. I do lots of incline workouts on the elliptical and on my treadmill, but I really don’t change the resistance levels that often. So now I have a goal to work towards. I don’t just want to go through the motions of a workout I want the benefits.

Now on to my next topic, Saturday Cocktail. For the record, I Drink Responsible Always. This past New Years Eve, I was the Designated Driver, and I enjoyed water with lemon all night and had a fabulous time.  Getting my husband and I home after ringing in the New Year was the only thing that mattered to me.

So for my Traditional Saturday Cocktail, I thought long and hard about what kind of drink I wanted to make today. Well first I like to think about a theme. I plan on watching the movie Contagion so I thought about what kind of drink I would want if we were on the brink of a world-wide outbreak and I thought, Something Fancy, Something Special, this might be my last drink. So I looked in my liquor cabinet and saw a bottle of Godiva Liquor that I have not touched since Thanksgiving. I got right online and found this recipe.

Siberian Express Martini

Drink Type: Martini

Ingredients

2 oz. Vanilla flavored Vodka 1 oz. Chambord Raspberry Liqueur 1 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur

Instructions

Shake with ice cubed and strain into a martini glass.

Respect alcohol, respect yourself.

Question of the day? Do you have a favorite drink?
I’ll fill you in tomorrow on how this drink was, have a happy Saturday friends.
Check ya Later.
