My husband and I love to travel whether it be by Plane, Train, Boat, Motorcycle or Car. We live on a lake and enjoy spending time on our pontoon boat relaxing, fishing and swimming.

Shortly after losing our Killian in November 2012 we rescued this little girl, Ginger Lou. She is an amazing addition to our family and we feel blessed that we could give her a home. She has been amazing for Stuart and us after our loss of Killian. Life has a way of healing a broken heart.

To define what staying fit means to me, well that’s easy. Do what you love, see the world, eat good food, exercise your mind and body, have as much fun as possible, take chances and try new things. Kiss your dogs and hold your family close. Our lives are our own and we are awake and alive, right here, right now.
So here’s to your Health.
“Here’s to the bright New Year
And a fond farewell to the old;
Here’s to the things that are yet to come
And to the memories that we hold.”

Hi Dena,
Just wanted to say that was a pleasure meeting you at Blend and sharing Friday night’s dinner together and sweating through Saturday’s bootcamp. What a wonderful weekend and way to meet like-minded friends.
Excited to start following your blog! Keep in touch!
-Maria
Hi Maria, it was so great meeting you also. What a great way to spend the week-end. I will keep in touch, I really enjoyed your company very much!
Dena love your blog and your enthusiasm. I looked at your pic and thought we must be related lol. I have the same hair but mine has a mind of it’s own. I love fitness, pets and motorcyles also. I used to live in WI and rode a 57 Pan. I couldn’t kick that over if my life depended on it now :). My ex had a superglide.
Love your pups.
April
Hi April! Thanks for the great comment, so glad you stopped by. 57 Pan…wow, now that’s a bike. Glad we share the pain of the curls together, love/hate with that one, right. You really made me smile today, thanks so much.

Love your outlook on health, life, food, and fitness! Just substitute “kiss your dogs” with “kiss your kids” and the motorcycle with a volleyball, and that is our life 🙂 Health and happiness to you in 2013!! –Juggling Julia 🙂
Another reason to love Foodie Pen Pals, finding new blogs and bloggers…So cool to meet you, I look forward to following you and your blog.
Amen, and ditto!
Ann Arbor blogger here!! mid-40s, fit, too… does it matter I’m not a woman?
Hello, Not at all! Always happy to meet local bloggers. You sure do have some great places to eat in A2!
Lately yes! At least 6 new places since last week in Dec. 2 are absolutely exceptional – Vellum and Isalita. I reviewed Vellum, Isalita coming soon… Where in the Mitt?
I look forward to reading that review. I’m in Lapeer. We have a few good seafood places out this way, but nothing like Ann Arbor. I can’t wait to read up on your blog. So glad you stopped by and commented!
Inspiring lady. Inspiring blog. You’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award! Keep it up!

Thank-you! How fun.
Hey Dena! I discovered your blog through An Unrefined Vegan. It sounds like we’ve got a lot of similarities. I’m also in my 40’s, happily married and have a dog, Mambo, that I absolutely love. I’m so sorry that you lost one of your dogs. Mambo is my first dog and our bond is so amazing. I know it’s going to be tough when I lose him. I’m also into health and fitness. I don’t ride a motorcycle, however; I’m too much of a wimp for that. I’ve been poking around your blog, and I love that you have so many kale recipes. I try to eat a lot of dark leafy greens, so I’m always looking for new recipes. Great blog – I’m happy to have found you! Celeste:)
Hello Celeste! So great to meet you. I love hearing how we all find each other. I love that Anne over at Unrefined Vegan, she is such a good blogger. Thank-you for the pup love, I still miss that little kid every single day. He was my special little boy, I still feel so blessed to have had him for 14 years. That’s so fun that your into green leafy goodness also. I just cannot get enough of that Kale. I really look forward to following you and your blog.
Thanks for following Dena – I appreciate it! Celeste:)
So glad we can keep up with each other;-)
I’m 42 and love discovering bloggers who enjoy fitness in my age group. Sorry about your loss. It’s so heart-warming that you give these dogs a good home.
Thanks for stopping by. I love your December challenges. I have not made an effort at all this month to stay active. I printed the calender and gonna use it to help me get back on track.
Fantastic! Best wishes
