Love comes in many shapes and sizes, my new love is in the form of these protein peanut butter balls.

Amaze-Balls is really all I can say about them. Crazy how sometimes the littlest food item packs the most flavor and satisfy my sweet tooth.

I have seen these Protein Balls here and there on other Healthy Living Blogs, but never really saw a flavor that made me stand up and shout, I need those NOW. Yes, I have printed each and every recipe I have seen, but have yet to make them, that was until I saw Calee’s recipe for Chocolate Salty [protein] Balls.

Peanut Butter Protein Balls

Adapted from Life + Running. You have to check out Calee’s blog, she is funny, smart, creative, and strong. She also has a mom named Dena, just in case you were wondering. We both completed the Fitmixer Boot Camp together, and we both attended the Blend Retreat. Her electric personality is contagious, go get some.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/4 Cup Protein Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Agave Nectar
  • 2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon Unsweetened Coco Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Directions

  1. Pour oats into food processor and pulse until they become a flour.
  2. Add protein powder and coco powder, and pulse to combine thoroughly.
  3. Mix in agave, peanut butter and vanilla — you can do this by hand if your machine can’t handle it. Pulse a few times and watch your machine. If it seems to be too much, pull dough out and mix by hand.
  4. Roll into tablespoon-sized balls.
  5. Refrigerate. Eat and Enjoy.

I Love these little balls so much. Thanks Calee for such a great recipe. Amaze Balls to the rescue.

When I saw this recipe over at The Lean Green Bean, I knew I had to make it. Plus Chobani just sent me a 12 pack of their Pineapple Yogurt, so I was all over this recipe. I am on a frozen fruit bar kick right now, so it only makes sense to try a frozen yogurt recipe next. I really love Chobani yogurt and I also love the company Chobani, I have so much respect for them after meeting them at the Blend Retreat. They are such a customer based company with healthy living as a priority.  So here’s how the pops came together.

Add your Chobani and Granola together and mix it up.

After mixing up the ingredients, you just spoon into an ice-cube tray.

I placed a toothpick into the center of each cube and placed them into the freezer to set-up. After they set-up it was time to dip them.

Dip them in what?

Chocolate, that’s what…

I tucked away this amazing chocolate disk I received from Alaina, at the Jogging Concierge. She sent me an amazing Foodie Pen Pal Box a few months ago and I have been waiting for the right time to break it out.

Well, the time is now.

So glad I placed in those tooth picks, they really helped me out when it was time to dip them in the chocolate, not so much help getting the pops out of the ice-cube tray, but they kept my fingers out of the chocolate.  Then I pulled out all the tooth picks, those little buggers are sharp.

Perfect treat for a warm day.

Here’s the Adapted Recipe from Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean

Frozen Granola Yogurt Chunks Dipped in Chocolate

Makes 14 Chunks

Ingredients:

  • 12 Ounces of Chobani Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Cup of your Favorite Granola
  • 1/2 Cup Melted Dark Chocolate

Instructions:

Mix the yogurt and granola together and spoon into ice-cube tray, place a tooth pick in the center, freeze until set. Remove from ice-cube tray and dip in melted chocolate. Place back into the freezer to let the chocolate set.

Then Snack Away.

Question of the Day:  What is your favorite summer snack or treat? It’s between chips and salsa and frozen fruit bars for me right now.

I was lucky enough to meet a few of the ladies from Chobani at the Blend Retreat. Chobani was one of our amazing sponsors. Check out their Blend Retreat Blog Post.

They provided our Sunday breakfast. I could eat Chobani everyday, well I kinda almost do. Someday’s it’s my snack, other days it’s my breakfast.

During the Blend Retreat I had a serious love affair with Pineapple Chobani. I lost count after three bowls.

Mixed with granola or added into oatmeal is my favorite way to enjoy Chobani.

Chobani Rules!

So when I came home to this on my front porch, I was beyond excited. A few week’s back I received an email from Lindsay and Emily telling me that they were sending a case out to me as a thanks for attending the Blend Retreat, and a few days later I received an email from Ashley telling me when to expect my delivery. Even though I knew I was going to get the shipment I was still super excited when I saw the actual box on the porch. Jackpot.

I wondered how they could keep it cold during delivery and couldn’t wait to open it up, and check it out.

So it comes packed in a box that is insulated with a bag.

Once you open the insulated bag, you find that the inner case box that is surrounded by ice packs.

They ensure that the box stays cold and that the yogurt arrives safe and sound and ready to be eaten.

Seeing these 12 beauties smiling back at me made this girl Happy! Very Happy.

Thank-You Chobani for loving your Blend’s so much, we love you right back! Blend’s + Chobani = Healthy Happiness, and on that note, I have a date with a cup right now.

Stay tuned for some recipes to follow.

Question of the Day: What’s your favorite yogurt flavor? Clearly mine is Pineapple.

Today I wanted to share a review I recently did. I first meet The Simply Bar at the Blend Retreat. They were given out to us on our hike as fuel, and wow I was really happy we had it on hand, that hike was no joke. It gave me the fuel to push through the hike.

IMG_1129

So when Jesseny contacted me to do a review of the bar and some of the select flavors, I was super excited. I love the simplicity of the bar, I see where the name came from, no other way to describe it. Real ingredients, real flavor, it’s simply real food.

Flavors included:

  • Lemon Coconut – Amazing flavor and texture and there are real pieces of coconut in the bar. Not only do you smell the coconut and taste it, you also get the lemon flavor and lemon scent loud and clear along with the coconut. Amazing flavor combination.  To be honest I would have never thought that I would like this flavor combination, but I really did.
  • Cinnamon Pecan – Something comforting about this flavor. The smell of cinnamon always gets me. I honestly can taste the ingredients. Truly love it when a product is true to its flavors. The pieces of pecans were fresh and crisp.
  • Peanut Butter Chocolate – If you like chocolate, you will love this flavor, really has a sweet flavor without all the sugar, remember these are real ingredients without unnecessary added sugar.
  • Caramel Peanut – So far there is not a flavor in the bunch that I can even say the slightest negative thing about. I am a huge fan of caramel flavor and loved the added peanuts in the crisps.

The one thing that really draws me to The Simply Bar is the high protein value, 16 grams of protein in each bar. Then the next draw for me is fact that the bar is not all chopped up and processed together into a solid mass and dipped in chocolate. I love the fact that the bar keeps its crispy texture which allows the bar to be savored and chewed. I am a fan of The Simply Bar.

Less sugar than fiber. No artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols. I’m all over that.

My personal favorite after tasting them all was the Lemon Coconut, but I really enjoyed them all.  I had it in my head that the caramel was probably going to be my favorite, because anything caramel is normally a favorite flavor, but for this review I let The Simply Bar speak to my taste buds, and that was the one that stood out.  They taste natural and healthy. So I have to give these bars 4 stars. I’m hooked.

Now Let’s talk about the stats. The Simply Bar is a high protein, low sugar, low-fat, low glycemic bar with only a handful of natural ingredients. The company was Founded by Cathy Richards. She created the Simply Bars after experiencing difficulties finding snacks that didn’t upset her stomach. She has Crohn’s Disease.

Each bar contains 16 g protein, 2-4g of fat, 3 g of sugar, 4 g of fiber, and 160 calories or less. Each bar is based on Non GMO soy crisps along organic brown rice syrup. All the cocoa bars are made with organic cocoa.

Loved by many, The Simple Bar makes a great snack for athletes (pre and post workout), vegans, health conscious individuals and those suffering from Celiac, Crohn’s and  IBS.  In addition to it being a great snack, The Simply Bar is gluten-free, low GI, dairy free, Kosher and easy-to-digest.

Take a look at the comparison chart.

Core Power has become a favorite of mine since attending the Blend Retreat. I have never purchased premixed protein shakes before. I remember trying a Slim Fast shake that a co-worker had years and years ago and still remember the tin flavor of the shake. So I guess I formed the option that all premixed protein shakes would all taste like that. Well Core Power changed that for me. The Core Power products are like drinking a milk shake, but with protein. I am really in love with the vanilla flavor, but the honey is right there behind it. It’s like getting a treat after working out, but this treat is beneficial and supports your recovery. They also have a chocolate flavor, but I did not get to try that flavor, but based on the other two I tried, I do not see how you could go wrong.

You get 26 grams of protein in each serving, and it comes with a healthy dose of essential amino acids. Core Power is a natural high protein muscle recovery drink for every type of fitness enthusiast. Created with your active lifestyle in mind, real milk protein serves as the base for this awesome tasting protein shake. Here’s the Nutritional Breakdown:

  • Calcium: 700mg of highly absorbable calcium
  • Vitamin D: Vitamin D works with calcium to strengthen bones, which may increase athletic performance

This has been my ride to work for the last week. My husband’s car is in the shop so he has been using mine. So my recreational vehicle has become my main vehicle. I will be the first to admit it, I am a fair weather rider. Well this past week I have ridden in a light sprinkle and 45 degree weather. It was not that bad, but the second I get my car back I am going to rejoice. It’s hard packing all I need for the day in those little side bags. Okay pity part is over.

Oats in a jar or OIAJ, for breakfast.

Added all my favorites, chia seeds, soy milk, nut butter and cinnamon.

Came home to this amazing delight. Popchips sent me a case of there Chili Lime Popchips. I love them, they are such a great company. They were a Blend Retreat sponsor and rewarded any of  the attendees with a 30 day supply for blogging about our experience with popchips. Well that was easy for me, I loved them, I cannot get enough of them.

The chili lime flavor is both spicy hot and sweet, so much flavor, I think  popchips are going to be a staple snack in my house from now on.

Such a satisfying healthy snack. Did I mention that they are all natural flavors and ingredients.

Then I got to dinner. Really excited to try a new recipe for kale.

My little kid, Killian loves him some kale. He loves any green leafy vegetable, well he love all veggies.

Side dish of couscous.

So this recipe for sautéed Kale is easy, it softens it and takes the bitter bite right out.

Cook the onions and garlic with some olive oil, about 5 minutes. Then add the kale and a 1/2 cup of vegetable broth and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes stirring as needed.

Grilled some chicken breasts.

Put it all together and sprinkled with feta cheese, and dig in.

Love eating on the deck, makes the work week fade away.

Here a Greatest Hits Look Back on a series of Kale posts I have done. Sell you on Kale. Accidents Happen.  With a side of Kale.  Pancakes or Eggs. Anticipation. Keeping up with Kale. Also check out a post that my friend Tamara did over at Wild Blue Wonder for Tofu Kale Triangles.

Wishing you a happy weekend!

Question of the Day: How have you used Kale? Or does seeing recipes for Kale make you want to try it?
